- A review of Lancia Motor Club events
LMC at Classic Car Show, NEC 9-11 November 2007
The LMC once again had a presence at the Classic Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham from 9-11 November 2007. We worked with the Montecarlo Consortium and the Beta Boyz to have a stand that had a total of 15 cars. The LMC part of the stand displayed seven cars, including a Dilambda, Aprilia open tourer, series 2 Appia, Dedra, integrale, and nuova Delta. The Montecarlo Consortium had four cars, as did the Beta Boyz.
Visitors to the stand were able to enjoy a glass of wine and some Italian food while chatting about the cars, providing a relaxed and social atmosphere.
The highlight of the weekend was receiving an award from Classic and Sportscar magazine for Best Club Show/Event, for Lancia in the Piazza in Covent Garden. The Dilambda just missed out on the award for the best car in show.

LMC Cotswold Economy Drive18/19 August 2007
As usual, fuel consumption varied widely, David Bridges' Ferrari Daytona proving that it can pass anything except for a filling station! The “lead foot” for the worst prediction went to Peter Collins, driving Peter Baker's Fulvia Sedan 2C, whose estimate was out by 37.87%, whilst winner Tony Huggett recorded an error of only 1.02% in his Sunbeam Rapier IV.
The tenth running of the Cotswold Economy Drive will be held over the weekend of 16th/17th August 2008.

Auto Italia Stanford Hall August 19 Initially a large Beta, Delta and Thema presence at the Auto Italia concours event at Stanford Hall not put off by grey clouds, other models came along during the morning Y10 and Flaminia. At lunch time the Cotswold Economy Drive arrived to enhance the line up to include many Fulvias, an Appia, B20s and later model Delta HPE. Congratulations to the Betaboyz getting over 20 Betas together for the event, and John Bower winning the Auto Italia trophy for best Lancia at the show in his lovely Beta Coupe.

National Rally and AGM, July 28/29. A fine collection of Lancias were represented at this year's National Rally held in Daventry, from Theta and Lambda to Fulvia, Beta and integrale and almost everything in between. The highlight of the day was the three special cars brought over from Turin, Sandro Munari's 1972 Montecarlo rally winning Fulvia, the famous number 14, a Montecarlo Group 5 turbo and LC2 racers both in Martini Racing trim, the cars were open and budding race and rally drivers could try them for size. The club's guest speaker Gianni Tonti discussed with club members his memories of the cars and time spent developing them.

GIRO DI SALOPIA June 8-10 Shropshire A weekend event for Lancisti, based in the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge. On Friday, the event started with a Lancia themed dinner. Saturday morning saw a fine collection of over 20 Lancias meeting at the RAF Museum at Cosford. After a short convoy down the M54, members arrived at Enginuity, the museum of design and technology in Coalbrookdale. After an afternoon exploring the many heritage sites in the Ironbridge Gorge, participants spent a long evening enjoying fine food and even better company at the White Hart, overlooking the River Severn. Sunday morning started early, as a wide range of Lancias set off for a driving adventure around the county of Shropshire, returning for a lazy, Sunday afternoon picnic in Dale End Riverside Park, Ironbridge.

Sliding Pillar Rally. 1-4 June This year’s event, was based in Ardennes region of southeast Belgium. After a welcome dinner the previous night, the 50 cars entered tackled two tours totalling 70 miles of the lush valleys of the river Meuse on the Saturday interspersed with an excellent lunch at the Chateau de Chevetonge which included a jazz band accompanied tour of the parkland gardens. Afternoon tea was taken at the local Lancia dealer prior to an evening Gala dinner.
Sunday commenced with a self-judged concourse at the Citadelle de Namur where Lancia Club Belgio members joined the event for the day. Two further Tulip Diagram Roadbook guided tours of 45 and 20 miles completed the weekend but not without a further couple of gastronomic experiences to break up the driving in this scenic part of Belgium.

Woking Hospice Classic car show 3rd June After some wet weather during the week, the sunshine shone brightly. The Surrey area represented the club with a 100% turnout of promised cars, representing cars from the 1950s to the 1980s, with Aurelia GT, an Appia, five Fulvias, three Beta coupes/spider and a Montecarlo. With over 300 cars on show the club display was popular with many visitors who came by, a very enjoyable day under the very warm sun, a few will no doubt be nursing some sunburn afterwards.

Masters Historical Festival at Brands Hatch over 27-28 May For the first time, the club had a display. A number of cars from the local Kent section and also some from further afield attended. Weather-wise the event was a good old-fashioned British bank holiday (i.e. a complete washout), but the track action was still very entertaining with a varied range of races from Group C Sportscars and Grand Prix Masters, to Top Hat Saloons and Gentlemen Drivers' GTs (pipes and slippers optional). And the Lancias, from Appia and Fulvia through to Delta integrale and Dedra turbo, even got a few laps of the circuit as well.

Brooklands
5th May The sun finally shone at the Auto Italia Spring Car Day at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge. There were over one hundred and fifty Lancias there giving the organisers many more cars than they thought hopefully next year Lancia will have larger space.
